THE DISCOTHEQUES IN SANTIAGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

BRIEF HISTORY AND EVOLUTION OF THE DISCOTHEQUES IN THE TOWN OF SANTIAGO

There are many places for dancing in the town of Santiago. In the past there were few Disco Clubs (Original name for the dancing places) that began to grow faster during the late of the 80's decade and the beginning of the 90's as Discotheques.  The Discotheques were located few miles away from the city, usually hidden among the residential area. Also, it were accessed from the highways by using some entrance that contained a small road through the place. Few of those dancing places were located within a hotel of the town and within the downtown area. In the past there were these Discotheques and Disco Clubs located at Santiago: LA ANTORCHA, LAS PALMAS (VILLA GONZALEZ), LAS VEGAS, LA MANSION, CHAMPION PALACE,TEMPO, LA NUIT, ESCALON TRES, KO'S, AMBIS 1 & 2, WAVE'S, CANDILEJAS, SOUND MACHINE, IMAGENES, DISCO D&D,  RELAX DISCO. Many of those places were closed and sold to other owners. Only few of them are open for the public at the present time.
